- If a member is admitted for emergency medical care, members should contact the Blue Cross Blue Shield Global Core Service Center at 800-810-BLUE (2583) or outside the U.S. at 804-673-1177 (call collect).
- If a member needs non-emergency inpatient medical care, they must call the Blue Cross Blue Shield Global Core Service Center prior to receiving care.
- The Service Center will facilitate hospitalization at a Blue Cross Blue Shield Global Core hospital or make an appointment with a doctor.
- It is important that the member call the Blue Cross Blue Shield Global Core Service Center in order to obtain cash-less access (direct billing) for inpatient care except for your usual out-of-pocket expenses (examples: deductible, coinsurance). If direct billing is not arranged, the member will need to pay the bill up front and file a claim. The Service Center is staffed with multilingual representatives and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Members should contact their Home plan, if necessary, for pre-certification or prior authorizations.

To submit a claim, member should complete a BlueCard Worldwide International Claim Form and send it to the BlueCard Worldwide Service Center. The claim form must be completed fully; otherwise, it will be returned to the member and payment will be delayed.
