Medicare and Working Past Age 65

Under Sotera Health's plan, an employee can delay enrolling Part B (outpatient medical, preventive care, therapy, etc) with no penalty as long as they are actively working and eligible for the group plan (which means he is an active, FT or PT more than 24 hours).  An employee should take Part A (Hospital and other inpatient services) which usually has NO monthly premium.  Sotera plan will continue to be primary and Medicare will be secondary.

When electing Medicare coverage, an employee may want to look at the supplemental plans available for costing as the SH plan, the employee should elect to take the benefit may be more costly and the coverage will differ (so, it could be more costly OOP). Looking at this can be complex based on each employee’s medical needs and that of their spouse as well.

It is strongly encouraged that any employee reaching age 65 connect with a Medicare expert by going out to Medicare.gov or call 1.800.633.4227 to discuss their options. The Social Security office within the employee’s state and location will have someone who can help, if contact your financial advisor to discuss. It is always best to contact a Medicare Expert or Financial advisor.
