The city provides employees with basic $50,000 life and AD&D insurance at no cost, as well as the opportunity to elect additional life and AD&D insurance for the employee and spouse/ domestic partner. Children are eligible for additional life insurance only.
Employees who enroll when initially eligible are guaranteed coverage up to $200,000 but no more than four times their annual salary for themselves, up to $20,000 for a spouse/domestic partner and up to $10,000 for your children without answering medical questions. Evidence of Insurability is required to request more than the guaranteed amount, which is up to $500,000 for employees and $250,000 for spouse/domestic partners or when enrolling more than 31 days after becoming eligible.
