When You Can Enroll

When You Can Enroll

You can enroll in or make changes to your health benefits when you first become eligible, after a qualifying life event or during annual Open Enrollment.

New Employee

  • New employees receive information during Bellevue Beginnings. Look for more information in the New Employees section of this site.
  • You are eligible for coverage the first day of the month following your hire date. For example, if you are hired May 1, you are eligible for coverage June 1
  • You must complete your online benefit enrollment within 30 days of becoming eligible. For example, if you are eligible for coverage June 1, you must complete your online benefit enrollment by June 30

Qualifying Life Event/Mid-Year Benefit Changes

  • You may change your coverage during the year if you have a newborn or adopt a baby, get married, or there is a loss of coverage for you or a spouse.
  • You must change your coverage during the year if you get divorced or legally separated, or a dependent child is no longer eligible due to age.
  • You have 30 days from these events to request a change in benefits, except for birth of a baby or adoption, for which you have 60 days.

Open Enrollment

  • Employees have an opportunity each year to make new choices for most benefits
  • Open enrollment is held each fall, with all changes taking effect the following January 1

Employee Contribution Rates

Employee Contribution Rates

Employee premium contributions are deducted as follows:

  • Medical, dental, and/or vision = first paycheck of the month
  • Flexible spending accounts and/or additional life insurance = monthly premium divided in half and deducted from every paycheck

Review your paycheck stub to verify that the correct employee premium contribution is being deducted.
