Health Savings Account (HSA)

The Saver medical plan allows you to have a Health Savings Account (HSA) administered by Health Equity. This plan allows you to pay lower premiums in exchange for a higher deductible. While this higher deductible may seem intimidating, the HSA allows you to save pre-tax dollars to help pay for any medical expenses the may occur. Sonesta will match your HSA Contribution, dollar for dollar, up to the employer annual maximum (click "read more" for additional information). If you choose not to contribute to your HSA, you will not receive Sonesta’s employer contribution.

The Health Savings Account is only available to employees who are enrolled in the Saver medical plan

Basic Life and AD&D
Description: Sonesta provides Basic Group Term Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance to benefit eligible employees through Reliance Standard Life Insurance Company. Both benefits pay one times annual earnings up to $300,000. This is an employer paid benefit. All benefit eligible employees are automatically enrolled.

Description: Employees may purchase Optional Life or AD&D Insurance coverage of up to five times their salary to a maximum of $1 million in $10,000 increments through Reliance Standard Life Insurance Company. Employee optional life coverage above $320,000 requires Evidence of Insurability (EOI). Spouses may also purchase in $10,000 increments up to 50% of the employees’ coverage or a maximum of $250,000. Spousal optional life coverage above $30,000 requires Evidence of Insurability (EOI). Child life insurance may be purchased at $2,500 or $5,000.

Plan rates are based on age and can be found on Workday. If you are enrolling for the first time, you may have to submit evidence of good health to Reliance Standard Life Insurance Company for approval. If an Evidence of Insurability form is required, Reliance Standard will reach out to you directly.

If you are already enrolled, you may increase your coverage by up to $10,000 without evidence of good health. If you wish to increase your coverage by more you will have to submit to Reliance Standard for approval.

Long Term Disability
Long Term Disability (LTD) Insurance provides partial income replacement if you are disabled for more than 90 days. This coverage is provided by Sonesta for benefits eligible employees through The Hartford.

Sonesta allows employees to choose whether to pay the LTD premium themselves or to have Sonesta pay their LTD premium for them. When employees pay their own LTD premium, the LTD payout is non-taxable.

Long Term Disability has two options:
1. 100% Paid by Sonesta - Taxable Benefit
  • Benefits eligible employees are automatically enrolled in this option
  • 60% benefit percentage up to $7,500 per month
2. 100% Paid by Employees - Tax Free Benefit
  • You must elect this option during your benefit event
  • 60% benefit percentage up to $7,500 per month

Business Travel Accident
Description: BTA Insurance provides Life and AD&D coverage for employees who are traveling for business. Travelling covers all forms of transportation, even travel by foot. How It Works

Simply decide how much to contribute up to the allowed monthly limit. Funds are withdrawn from your paycheck for deposit to your account before taxes are deducted. Pause or cancel contributions to your account at any time. There’s no “use it or lose it” as long as you’re enrolled in the program.

 

How Much You Can Contribute

Contribution maximum amounts are as follows:
